Ohhhh, we’re all slowly coming back today, right? I had 5 sweet days of vacation in a tiny, wonderfully comfortable farmhouse in the woods of Vermont (there was even a very fierce sheep to keep us company!). My favorite feature of the house was the huge limestone sink with the mercury glass bulb pendants above. The nights were cool, the days sunny, breezy and everything was green.
On the 4th we went to the Saxtons River annual celebration which included pie, hula hoop contents, lots of firemen (and fireman water polo, which involves lots of fire hoses and even more wet firemen). I love small town America!

Mom and I were total goofs and donned matching patriotic twirling headbands to support the annual fireworks fund (we’re fireworks fanatics).

I’ve sort of been obsessed with this image from the Style Files. It just looks clean, comfortable, airy, happy and while not totally my style, I’m thinking of what works here and how to infuse my home with this. I think its mixing the cool (as in cold) modern lines with the warm wooden (not modern) table and all the color, both inside and out. Also, I’m lusting for outdoor space, and this looks to have plenty.
I’m back in the library (I’ve decided I’m a really a citizen of the libraries of New York City), but we had a nice weekend, watching Lars and the Real Girl, cooking tasty mac and cheese with wild mushrooms and TRUFFLE oil (so fancy!) and catching up with an old, dear friend in town from Germany.
NB: Lars and the Real Girl made me cry, and I actually don’t remember a movie ever making me cry before. It’s good, better than the storyline makes you think it will be.

A friend sent me this link to Drew Berrymore’s office kitchen via the Domino Galleries. I’d LOVE to have an office with a kitchen like this, heck, I’d love to have this kitchen in my HOME.
I like: the chandelier, the green walls, the checked floor, the long “farm house” table and cafe chairs. Oh, and of course, the light.
More here.

So, i’m developing an obsession with kitchen nooks… I love how clean and bright, how cheery but zen this room is. I’m in need of a get away from my own taste, I think. And, I love those Wegner Wishbone chairs. (via 2 or 3 things I knew… )
Then, check out the exterior of this house….delicious!
