The BBC comedy Monday Monday is fantastic! Tim and I devoured all seven episodes of the first season in three days. It’s sort of a cross between Ugly Betty and The Office. Oh and its available on Netflix streaming.

Over the weekend Tim showed me the Abbey Road webcam. And I’ve been obsessively glued to it ever since. People are constantly (and I mean constantly) recreating the iconic Beatles crossing– one women went back and forth, leaping, at least four times while I watched. The whole scene is part voyeuristic and part pure joy. I highly recommend it on this grey rainy day.

It’s raining in NYC and I couldn’t be happier. It’s been a long, hot, sunny summer and I’m glad for a break. This Star Wars themed Improv Everywhere video (shot on a NYC subway) is worth a view. My favorite part: seeing all the smiling New Yorkers. <<via Gothamist>> PS I love improvisation in almost all its forms — so much of my life is improvised and once I started realizing that, I let go and had a lot more fun.

At our Febgiving, the conversation after dessert turned to a debate about the merits of cake vs pie. It all started when Stephanie cheekily posed the question “would you rather go to a pie heaven (where they only serve pie) or cake heaven (where they only serve cake)?” Let me tell you, the debate got intense and heated very very quickly. I am a pie heaven person beyond the shadow of a doubt. Jezebel has been running a March Madness playoff between Cake and Pie and it will be interesting to see who wins. I’m rooting for pie, how about you?

I am looking forward to sitting next to my husband and laughing hysterically. Date Night opens April 9th.

The trusty Cuisinart toaster my mother gave me when I graduated college died this week. I guess that might be a leading indicator that I’m aging… Anyway, as a new mom I suddenly buy everything on Amazon.com (carbon footprint be damned) because I have a Prime account with free shipping. Believe me when I say, someone at Amazon.com knows what they are doing. In looking for a simple straight forward toaster on Amazon this evening, the funky egg toaster is the first thing that popped up. The egg dish some how yucks me out. UPDATE: The on-the-ground report from readers is that this toaster works and the eggs aren’t bad. So, it just goes to show you that you shouldn’t judge a toaster by its egg cup.

My citrus tree has spider mites, a relatively mundane problem. In the course of asking that handy-little-Google-search-box (which is really a modern day oracle) how one might control spider mites, Google instead gave me this small window into our murky, heated and collective desire for control over our emotions and bodily functions. Which makes me thankful all I’m looking for is help with my spider mites.

This photograph made me laugh and laugh this morning. Maybe because I’m having a baby and he feels like the boss of me. Maybe because I’ve said this to my husband in fits of pique. Maybe because it’s just awesome.

I mean, what in the world are these men doing? And who took their picture? Did he have a truck too? This had my weekend off to a laughing start… via Triumph of Bullshit.
