I took this photo of the Blue Ridge Mountains with my iphone last night. We are a slow half an hour drive up a mountain; past pastures full of cattle; we’ve seen bobcat, bears, deer and more fireflies than you could shake a stick at. Last night, as my mom and I drove home, tired but happy, with Alex asleep in the back seat the road glowed an endless stream of fireflies blinking. I wanted to slow down time to make the drive last a little longer.

We were in North Carolina for Easter and the greens were incredible. This house is just down the way from my parent’s house and I snapped a shot as we took Alex for a walk.

Last week, I went for a walk in Central Park at lunch and the wind in the magnolia trees was hypnotic.

Some of my happiest memories are standing around my parent’s raised beds of sweet peas in the summer dusk, the grass cool under my bare feet, talking with my father about nothing in particular.
