2.2.2014 – Seen: Utilitarian Chic, Pizza & Walasse Ting

February 2, 2014

It is no coincidence that my favorite pizza place on the Upper West Side, Sal and Carmine’s, is full of art.  The utilitarian appeal of the seating area is punctuated by huge colorful posters by Walasse Ting.  White walls, warm wood and great art = a good recipe! PS: A Serious Eats review of Sal & Carmine’s.

A selection of his work is available here, although, sadly, I can’t find that red and pink horse.

I have a postcard of his painting of two watermelon slices. I have had it for 30 years — bought it in paris while backpacking through Europe after college. I had to wait 15 years to be able to google him and see his other work. still like the watermelon slices best. thanks for reminding me.
