This story by Ralph Gardner on Inge Reist and Robert Freeman is an ode to street walking in New York. In short, Inge and Robert walked past each other on their respective walks to work for 10 years and now they are getting married. I’ll let you click over for the full, romantic story.
PS I’m a huge Ralph Gardner and his Urban Gardner column — it’s my favorite part of the WSJ.

What a sweet story!
I have fond memories of my “train people” in NYC – the ones I saw during my commute most days. I got a special thrill to see them again after a day or two of absence.
How much did I love this story! It’s that reminder that NYC is a very small town too in its own neighborhood by neighborhood way.
Abbey~Thank you for introducing me to Ralph Gardner, Jr…and his Mother too!!! I’ll be keeping close tabs on them from now on.
I loved that article, too. I worked for Inge a long time ago and she was one of the kindest, smartest women I’ve had the pleasure of working with, too.
