I’ll admit it: I have real ambivalence about our apartment. Something about it just doesn’t feel permanent to me. (It might be that the elevator breaks down more than any elevator should and we live on the 10th floor.) Over the weekend I realized I just need to commit to finishing decorating it so that it doesn’t feel like we’re camping out — to that end, I’m thinking about putting up some stripes in the living room and adding a banquette — on a tiny budget (ie repurposing things in the house…). <<via>>

I really love the idea of those bright pops of neon in what is otherwise a fairly classically decorated room. Great inspiration pick!
Great idea! So many styles and colours this would work with.
Please, please do more decorating and give us lots of lovely pictures. I’ve been dying to see what you do with the place ever since you moved.
Whoa. Would love to see some color options laid out.
I love stripes in a home. I considered doing them in our downstairs bathroom, but it was too much work. How lazy am I?!
This will look so great, Abbey!!
If you need any help sourcing or anything like that, I’d be happy to offer up my designer’s discount.
Ballard Designs has great banquet seating and I get 20% off there.
Good luck!!
do it! i’d love to help out if you need a hand!
Go for it…I think it would look so great in a living room!! (I love that bench along the table – so cool!)
i love the bright colors, too. such a shame that that lovely elevator is so fickle!
I put thick navy blue stripes in my powder room that was kind of a blah space and it’s now my favorite room in the house! Go for it!
Wow….I so relate to this post, especially: “I realized I just need to commit to finishing decorating it so that it doesn’t feel like we’re camping out”. I have also had this same mentality about my home. I don’t want to complete the decorating because I feel like its a temporary place – or rather I want it to be. Thanks for sharing this….I love stripes…go for it!!
just went back and saw this post. your house is stunning as is but stripes? Yippeee!
As I website owner I think the subject material here is very fantastic , thankyou for your efforts.
