Inspiration in a packed library

Jacques Derrida

I hope to have a library like this someday; rumpled and packed with knowledge and evidence of a life well lived.  Jacques Derrida’s library photographed by Andrew Bush, found via I’m Revolting.  Oh, and I love the little fold down desk.

I totally agree, I want that too. I always said that someday I want a real old fashioned library. You know, such a dark brown one, with chesterfields and shelves so high you need a little ladder to get the top books. Shelves all around the room, except for one wall. There will be a fireplace, so you can sit and read by the fire…:-)

It’s like getting a peek into someone’s mind, a library like that.

And isn’t I’m Revolting great?

oh how i would love to have a library like that! i’m running out of shelf space for my books!

How interesting! I actually wouldn’t expect Derrida’s library to be mostly white. I would’ve pictured something a little darker. I love this, though – - a clean, fresh space providing no distraction to all of the deconstruction that surely took place there!

Oh me too! I’ve dreaming of walls filled with books! And like Anna says I would’ve imagined something darker. But maybe that’s because I’m dreaming of a library with black walls!
