An Ina Garten-themed dinner party
August 4, 2009

A friend emailed me raving about an Ina Garten-themed dinner party she went to on Sunday. Everyone was assigned a course, and the recipe had to come from ina’s ‘canon’. Evidently it was fun and delicious and a great deal of the “juice of a few flowers” was consumed by all. On your behalf, dear readers, I demanded the menu asap and here it is:
drinks
juice of a few flowers (lemon, lime, orange & grapefruit fresh squeezed, with vodka & mint)
appetizers:
savory palmier
bruchetta with gorgonzola & red pepper, yellow pepper, and caper compote
bruchetta with brie and caramelized onions
Starter course:
borscht, served cold
Main:
roasted chicken with lemon and bacon
Side:
walnut pesto past
corn pudding
Dessert:
coconut macaroons

ooh that’s so cute! what a great idea! and sounds so delicious
Jeffery would be so happy, because you know that Jeffery loves chicken.
You really have to say it in the Ina voice to get the full effect. I love her recipes and her show. I just want to pinch her cheeks!
delicious.
i stopped by for your help actually… i thought i would come on here and ask a few creative bloggers that i love and follow for some help…. i also just posted about it on my blog.
im going to vegas this weekend with 4 other girls… one just turned 26 yesterday and the other turns 30 a few days after we get back…
so, the other 3 of us wanted to do something a little special for them while we’re there…. probably just pay for dinner but we will all prob give them a little gift individually as well and thats where i need help.
we are all new friends so we’re not super close… just in the stages of getting to know each other.
i dont want anything over the top or expensive. something just sweet, thoughtful and creative… and i was wondering with all the neat things you come across or just your creativity, if you have any little ideas as a sweet gift for a friends birthday. something small and different, no what i mean? one of my friends is going to give them a card with a starbucks gift card inside but i just wanted something a little more special.
would love to hear your thoughts! would realllly appreciate it!!!
thank you so much for taking the time to read this. xo.
What a fantastic idea! I love Ina’s recipes and getting a group of people together to make a whole giant meal of them would be so fantastic. I’m just hoping I’ll be able to find some budding cooks like myself when I move to San Diego in a month.
sounds and looks dreamy.
Um, sign this hungry gal up, stat! That looks like a delicious spread. Very creative idea your friend’s friend had.

love this idea. love ina. love her ‘dream team’ of friends that come over to decorate, bring flowers, and sample food all while she’s doing the cooking in her new barn. i would love to be her neighbor.
Brilliant! I am an Ina fan, too. Is anyone not?
What a great party idea! Love Ina and her new house.
I heart Ina. Her recipes are the bees knees. My husband’s dream is to make it onto her friend list – he says he could be just as enthusaistic about everything she makes as Jeffery is!
amazing! i wish i had friends who love ina as much as i do!
What a fun idea. I think I might borrow it for the future…theme dinner parties are always more exciting.

LOVE this idea. Whether it be with Ina or not, great idea to have one person bring each course.
