Between above ($199, cb2) and below ($199, pottery barn teen)? I’m leaning towards the cb2 one because it is returnable and slightly sleeker.

It’s for our sad (soon to be happy) dining room. Oh, and I’m working on the art bit too!

In that case, go with the top one. For the return policy alone. I can’t wait to see what art you pick!
I absolutely know the pain of not being able to find art to suit a room. I have no problem getting furniture (and kitchen appliances), but when it comes to art or accessories, I’m absolutely lost. I can’t wait to see what you decide on — your site already is so inspirational.
I love an arc lamp in the dining room!
I’d go with the top one!
I am looking for a similar lamp too. I’ve been trying to decide between the CB2 one and this one from EQ3, because I love the marble base. Have you considered it?

We’ve had the cb2 one for a few years and love it. The only caveat is that if you use cfl’s and want to dim it it makes an annoying humming noise. So if you’re committed to cfl’s that could be a problem. Oh, and don’t try to put it together yourself (as they advise against in the instructions). I thought I’d surprise my husband and put it together alone, but only Plastic Man could accomplish this I think.
i have the cb2 lamp at home and i love it! it’s an impressive piece. my vote goes to cb2.
I vote for the CB2 version as well. Can’t wait to see the room when it’s done!
I`m an artist and I would love to help you with the art part! Since I´m in Argentina, all I can do it´s to give you this web adress (www.artistamundo.com) where you can find pieces from all over the world, and acquire them direct from the artist.
A few other things: When you consider a piece of art for your house take your time to make a choice. You will have to live with the piece, not only dine with it. Besides your personal taste, it has to move something inside you, wheter it`s a childhood memory, a fulfilled goal, someone that you love, or some place that gives you peace.
Take in account the lighting that you have, how much do you want to see of it (it`s the same a two inches art piece that a two square foots one?). Think that probably it will stick with you a number of years, so it´s better to start out with safer places like a hall or a corridor.
This it´s the longest comment I ever wrote, so i will stop now.
I hope it helped you.
I vote for cb2… She uses it in her dining room, and I think it looks lovely:

Loving this lamp too! It’s on my wish list for my new apartment too. Really like how you used it in your dining room. Love your blog!
