1980s, summer time: my mother and I’d sit outside sunbathing, run into town to get groceries for our often nightly bbq, then go for a swim in the neighbors’ pond every evening. We lived in this type of sandal, summer after summer. Just seeing them makes me think of grass, the feeling of summer sun and really the joys of childhood and summertime. $38 at Urban Outfitters.

I can’t believe these are back. Funny how things come back in style. Never thought I’d see these again. Love your recollection of your memories with them.
I very nearly bought a pair based on nostalgia alone – they were our summer shoe of choice, too.
my goodness, i love this post. what a lovely memory!
don’t you just love childhood summer memories!
I had them in white! Your childhood sounds so nice:) I hope you’re hanging in there in the final stretch, mama.
Yes! So glad these are back!
such a lovely post!
When you first got them they were all stiff and tight, and by the end of the summer they were part of your own feet.
It’s so funny to watch something come back into fashion– I loved these when I was little too! And your recollections of summer are so very sweet.
My favorite sandal of all-time. I got into the habit of wearing them with white socks, believe it or not! VERY happy to see they are back.
