I fall in love with postal stamps and then become a loyalist — I will only send letters/bills/thank you notes with that stamp. My most recent obsession was the Albert Bierstadt stamp, above, which depicts his 1864 painting “Valley of the Yosemite.” With the change of the postal rate to 44 cents, I’ve been feeling sad, as there is something about having to use a extra stamp 2 cent stamp that ruins the effect of sending a letter — it just looks so messy to me (call me crazy). So imagine my delight when Black*Eiffel pointed out these king and queen “love” stamps. I’ve found my next obsession! PS did you know that you can buy stamps online at USPS.com? In NYC I’ve found that the “good” stamps often sell out at my local post office (and this after I’ve stood in line for 40 minutes).

PS: See some of my favorite vintage stamps here.

Yes! I just received a letter with the queen stamp on it … and about died! I adore it. Who knew with the raise in price, we would get such a cute new stamp?!
Have a great weekend, Abbey!

I studied Albert Bierstadt in college, so I love his work. Glad to see some decent art making stamps these days!
Also really like the King & Queen, I forgot about the 2-cent increase, I need to invest in “Forever” stamps (even though they’re not as pretty).
Oooh, I love the king and queen stamps. I got to use the Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant stamps for my wedding invitations back in 2003. It was one of my favorite wedding details. Thanks for posting these and getting me thinking about lovely stamps again.
OH MY GOODNESS!!! The King and Queen stamps are ADORABLE!! I’ll have to get myself some of those
Super cute!
I’ve been devoted to Bette Davis, Katherine Anne Porter, Greta Garbo. Philatelic fidelity is very important.
