My Dream Kitchen

May 29, 2009

If this house was my dream house, then this is my dream kitchen from Erika over at Urban Grace Interiors!  Erika is insanely talented and she has become one of my favorite blogs to read.

We have acres of walls in the new place… loving this framed wallpaper from SeeSaw Designs (via DIY Network).

Dream House

May 27, 2009

This is my dream house, built in 1798. $325,000 in Litchfield, CT.  NB to New York friends:  don’t worry, we’re not moving to the country.

1980s, summer time: my mother and I’d sit outside sunbathing, run into town to get groceries for our often nightly bbq, then go for a swim in the neighbors’ pond every evening. We lived in this type of sandal, summer after summer.  Just seeing them makes me think of grass, the feeling of summer sun and really the joys of childhood and summertime.  $38 at Urban Outfitters.

Happy Walls

This image caught my eye as in our old apartment (below) we had lots of “leaning” art (see more of that apartment over at Design*Sponge). I loved it in that apartment (but we’ve been hanging all our art in this new one!). Something about this image above just seems clean and modern and crisp. It helps that I love the art collection! From photographer Alexandra Rowley, via Desire to Inspire.

Hello, blog love

May 24, 2009

Joanna truly found the best wedding video ever. Makes me want to get married all over again.

I hate checking my voicemail… turns out so do the folks at Google.

Wary Meyers has a blog! Their thrifting makes me look like Donald Trump, comparatively.

An awesome new book I just preordered on Amazon.

Pret a Voyager turns us on to the contents of our refrigerators as art.

I never knew just how lovely a color “seafoam” could be…

Sweet hedge image from You Look Marvelous.

The word bower applies? Amazing shots of the reclaimed gardens at the famed Grey Gardens.

I fall in love with postal stamps and then become a loyalist — I will only send letters/bills/thank you notes with that stamp.  My most recent obsession was the Albert Bierstadt stamp, above, which depicts his 1864 painting “Valley of the Yosemite.”  With the change of the postal rate to 44 cents, I’ve been feeling sad, as there is something about having to use a extra stamp 2 cent stamp that ruins the effect of sending a letter — it just looks so messy to me (call me crazy).  So imagine my delight when Black*Eiffel pointed out these king and queen “love” stamps.  I’ve found my next obsession!  PS did you know that you can buy stamps online at USPS.com?  In NYC I’ve found that the “good” stamps often sell out at my local post office (and this after I’ve stood in line for 40 minutes).

PS: See some of my favorite vintage stamps here.

I couldn’t resist this garden from Elle Decor. I want to pat those guard dog statues on the head and then get lost in this maze of green. See more amazing shots here.

Boxes!

May 12, 2009

picture-222

These boxes have been on my mind since I saw them last week over at Katy Elliot’s blog.  The company that makes them, Bungalow, has a great line of products including bedding, baby clothes and quilts.  Too bad the minimum wholesale order is $450 (anyone want in with me?).
