I’ve been seeing this Eames rocker everywhere recently: do we like it? Does anyone have one? Are they comfortable? This image is from Design*Sponge.

Sometimes I don’t like things I see everywhere. Years ago I loved the Barcelona chair, until I saw it everywhere I went. Still, it does look quite cool – but I will be interested to see if you get comments from anyone who owns it – as I can’t imagine it is in any way comfortable?
Oo I love it. But I’ve always had a love of rocking chairs!
i LOVE this chair! they don’t look that comfortable but they surprisingly are!
All of the Eames chairs are amazingly comfortable, even when they don’t look it, like the molded plywood lounge chair, which looks like it would be very uncomfortable for a tall person, but is actually very easy to get in and out of as well as perfectly molded to the humon body, which honestly makes it more comfortable than a squishy chair. And that goes for the fiberglass chairs as well.
For if you can’t tell, I’m a big fan of their work. I vote YAY for the chair.
They are comfortable (curse them) – I coveted one from afar, and then found one in a store in Seattle and made Sean (the super skeptic) try it – he was ready to buy one after the trial sit (and that is saying something – the man is a harsh critic of the relative comfiness of furniture – nothing we own currently even approaches his ideals.)
We have one (it was a gift from my very thoughtful best friend) and it really is great. It sits lower than I expected, which I think makes it a bit more comfortable. Plus our 28 month old freaks out every time he sees it…he’s already an Eames fan.
Oops…I meant to say 18 months not 28.
I see the Eames chair everywhere too, and have been wondering that same thing, so thanks for asking it.
I do not have one but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the red one. They are super comfortable too.
I love the Eames rocker!
I know it’s un-original but I love it!
I love the Eames rocker…it is one ofm y favorite chairs. I have a broken one I need to get fixed pronto.
LOVE LOVE LOVE.
So the vote is HOT!!!! And that it’s surprisingly comfortable!
I’m for sure going with ‘hot’. A former coworker of mine had one in his baby’s nursery–it was white I think, and the rest of the room was the most charming non-sticky sweet pink–and it absolutely was a wonderful chair for a baby’s room. And they are super comfy for sure. I make a point to sit in one every time I go to Design Within Reach (which is too frequently to be healthy, I’m afraid).
My vote is hot and I’m in dire need of a red one.
I’ve always loved them and I think it’s one of those things that even though there are a ton of them, it’s for a reason and they’re classic.
Hot. I’d always wanted one and finally bit the bullet a few years ago. It ended up not working in my house, not because my home is a bit more traditional, which it is, but because proportionately it was too small. I moved it into my windowless, souless, standard-issue corporate drone office as a replacement for my company-issued chair. I love to make execs sit in it. They always LOOK uncomfortable, rocking a way in the teensy chair, but that has less to do with the ergonomics and more to do with the absurdity of it. It makes me happy.
A definite resounding YES on my part! I have one and bought it after nursing my son in it while on vacation, so check yes for comfort. But, really and truly, I just love the look of it. I just recently threw on a small sheepskin hide courtesy of IKEA and I love the look of warm and fuzzy on top of the smooth white plastic. I also had a set of vintage eiffel-base chairs around my kitchen table and they really do conform around the human form in all the right places!
i say yes as well! have been wanting it for so many years and seeing it everywhere hasn’t made me change my mind (surprisingly). personally i can’t get tired of it.
