We’re headed to North Carolina for the holiday and I’m so excited to try and make this wreath! From Martha Stewart Living, of course.

I’m getting excited for the holidays. Even though we’re all watching our wallets (and 401ks!) this season, I think it is more important than ever to find a way to celebrate what really matters: family and friends and being together. I love this image from Country Living. It’s celebratory, but simple. You can get beaded christmas garland on Amazon.com for $2.99. There is quite a bit on Etsy (search on “christmas garland”) like this from efinegifts for $14.95

I mean, what in the world are these men doing? And who took their picture? Did he have a truck too? This had my weekend off to a laughing start… via Triumph of Bullshit.

Gallery walls are one of my favorite things and yet I don’t have one in my own home… partially because a BAD gallery wall is almost as depressing as a good gallery wall is wonderful. All The Best posted a great tutorial using this gallery wall at the Kate Spade store as an example. Really smart and helpful.

This tree house is making me so happy today! I’d like to live here, warm breeze, lots of cookies. via Arthur’s Circus

I updated the shop this morning with some fun items: whales, rad tins, vintage colored pencils. More updates to come this week.

Last night I had a meeting with a super chic lady (who looked something like Jessica Alba) who throughly intimidated me: reason #1 besides her semi-aristocratic air? HER BOOTS. I felt totally outclassed in the footwear department. It didn’t help that I was in sneakers. So, I’ve resolved to find, with your help, the perfect short-woman-friendly pair of boots. * PS I really just wish that Santa could bring me an extra foot of height this year.
Here’s my boot wish list:
* chic please but also practical (so a lowish heel, no suede)
* I love the color grey right now, but would do black too
* has to make my short legs look decent (I’m 5 feet 2 inches on a good day)
* lady like enough to be worn with dresses, but will mostly be worn with pants…

This pair found by fab Sometime Dresses, Sometimes Jeans is pretty close except that they look really tall (like they might come up to my mid thigh). So, what boots are you wearing this winter? Lusting after? And, short women, I esp. need your thoughts on this! xoxoxo, Abbey

This room (that greenery!) has been on my mind for weeks. Wouldn’t you love to visit for a few weeks and eat home cooked italian food each night? Wake up to linen sheets? Delicious!

This dresser is so fun and the best part: Lena Corwin posted a step-by-step how to here.

I’ve been seeing this Eames rocker everywhere recently: do we like it? Does anyone have one? Are they comfortable? This image is from Design*Sponge.

Dean and Deluca always has the most beautiful (but expensive) flowers but I saw these peonies ($5 each!) and had to have them. At three these blew my weekly budget, but so worth it. See all of the bouquets here. They are totally helping me through the November slump.

November is a tough month, it’s dark, it’s cold (or in NYC, rainy and cold) and Thanksgiving always feel SO FAR AWAY. The end of day light savings always puts me in a bit of a depression, so I have to fight for things that make me happy. One of the things that’s been working lately besides bacon sandwiches (you think I’m kidding about the bacon but I’m not) has been the delightful blog Please Sir. Day-in, Day-out she manages to find the most beautiful spaces with a clean aesthetic that I just love and inspiring artists all in a fresh package. Diana, you’re a ray of light in dark times! (Okay, a little melodrama for your Friday…) Other blogs I’ve been slurping up on a daily basis: Even Cleveland, Cup of Jo, Delicious Smitten (who knew I was interested in what Men Wish Women Knew About Sex?), and Fed By Birds.
