I’ve always loved saltines — as a child my favorite treat was “nachos” made by baking Cabot cheddar cheese onto saltines. Simply one of the most delicious things you can eat. Salt, cheese, crunch. When I worked my corporate job with insane hours, I was never without a package of saltines in my desk.
While I no longer can indulge in “nachos” the way I once could, and I thankfully don’t need to eat a package of saltines as dinner at my desk anymore, I love this necklace found via Sometimes Dresses, Sometimes Jeans. Delicious.

I love this image from the French Marie Claire Home. It’s neat but not too neat, funky but still elegant. And, I’d love some of that tart! Yum.

I spied these sweet lace garlands from Martha Stewart’s line over at Walmart and I’m thinking about buying a few strands to string over our dining area for a party. I’m somehow getting excited to have people over on fall evenings and serve stew and have lots of red wine.
Thanks to wonderful blogger Please Sir, I found these amazing “famous faces” masks on great UK site Cox and Cox. I am now obsessed with starting a collection of paper masks (maybe as part of a photo wall) above our desks — how rad would that be? I could pay (in Euros, of course) to have them shipped to me or I could buy them from Silver Crow Creations (although it looks like it is about the same cost as paying to have them shipped from the UK. Then, I found some more great masks here (shown below).
The Mona Lisa ($5) is a must, as is the DEVIL dude ($5)!

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had nice weekends — I was in Boston with my friend who is pregnant and we had such fun just hanging out and do a few things in her lovely nursery. I took the train up and back and just read the whole way. Delicious.
Today my paint obsession continues from last week. I would LOVE to paint my kitchen shelves red like this and remove our cheap rental doors. Yes, I’d have to be neat, but, I sort of am when it comes to glasses and dishes.
Scanned from Domino.

I have an old beat up secretary that I would LOVE to paint the inside this color, Shale Blue, and turn into a bar. Such a genius idea from the folks at Cottage Living. PS I’m in love with their “Design Assistant” feature which is an archive of photos from Cottage Living, Coastal Living, Southern Living and Sunset Magazines. Lots of inspiration from magazines I don’t normally buy unless I’ve been traveling a lot and get desperate in the Hudson News.

A dear dear friend is having a baby in early October and I’m sewing a baby quilt for her! I’ve only made one quilt before, so its been an adventure, but a fun one. I’m so much more disciplined than I was last time I quilted, which has sort of made me feel like a grown up.
I bought these fabrics at Purl Patchwork where they were so nice and so helpful. Also, the prices are pretty fair, especially when you factor in shipping costs. In addition to the fabrics above, I’m quilting in old dress shirts from her father and husband as a way to fit an extra bit of love into the quilt. The photo below is the quilt that I’m basing my design on. I’ll post it when I’m done, of course!

Oh and this Alexander Henry fabric, “Zoo” is what I’m using on the back.

After talking about chalk drawings and peg boards for the huge white wall in the kitchen, we finally decided on a easy to put up and easy to remove decal! Many thanks to readers Nancy and Erin for pointing out the decals would be a smart solutions (I love readers!). It looks super low in this picture, but, in practice, it feels like the right height when you see it in the room.

So I’m three weeks behind on my weekly year of flowers posts. The truth: I used my flower money for cabs! I’ve had a hectic couple of weeks starting school and gave in to the siren’s call of cabs more often than I should have. Naughty naughty. But it made me so happy in the moment. But now we’re back to the regularly scheduled flower broadcasting. xxoxo my dears.
Thank you thank you for all your comments — I was blown away! Such a nice way to do a bit of fall closet cleaning and spread good energy (I mean, giving it all to Goodwill wouldn’t have been nearly as fun). I’ll do another one sometime, so if you didn’t get something this time, I’m sure you will next time.
