This image just stopped me in my tracks today — found on new-to-me blog Indian By Design. Which I found via Swiss Miss. What do I love here — the orange, the wood, the matching banquet and table. The random pipe. The light. I guess kind of everything but the temperature controls.

Some sunshine to start your day from an old Martha Stewart Living.

So who else watches Best Week Ever on VH1? It’s randomly probably my favorite TV show and I just discovered their website. Deliciously hysterical. Enjoy.

I’d like to go to this “tree house for grown-ups” for the week and never leave. See the full story here. And, if you need more tree house love, I just came across this round up of tree houses on the Cookie blog, written by none other than Joanna. My dad built my sister and me a tree house and we loved it for two summers. Then, suddenly in the fickle way of children, we decided we hated it and never went back. I visited it last year right before my parents sold their house and wondered at our silliness. It was a lovely tree house.

Still life vignettes, created with real life flowers. Genius from Martha Stewart Living.

I’m obsessed with this perfect blue and white striped tin from Dean and Deluca filled with buttery cookies. $25 here. But I’ve always had a thing for tins.

So the crazy thing about the cabin we where we stayed in Montana? The front was encrusted with crystals! The woman who built it clearly loved rocks and crystals. She was a elementary school teacher and salvaged the blackboards when the school was renovated and stuck them on the house too (see last picture!).

I just realized that my feed hasn’t been updating this week — more WordPress 2.5 upgrade issues. However, it seems to be working now, so everyone who reads my feed can now get their fill of design scouting! The image is one of my favorite shots from our trip to Montana.

Top of my wish list for the apartment right now? This green desk at Paula Rubenstein, 65 Prince Street. This shop might be my favorite place in the world, at least this week. Ms. Rubenstein carries a pitch perfect collection of vintage goods (blankets, perfect coastal landscapes, funky Bakelite place settings, old photographs) in perfect condition.

Yesterday I was running errands downtown and happened upon the Issey Miyake Pleats Please store (128 Wooster St) and I’m head over heels with this bag design. My favorite color is the royal blue, which they don’t seem to have online. See more here.

My new levenger notebook system arrived today so I’m offline, nerding out and transferring lists from one system to the new one. What I love about the new system is I can move pages around within the notebook (go nerds!).
Posting will be regular but lighter than usual over the next couple of weeks while I get ready for the Fall term (I’m going to be teaching in addition to being a student!) and generally taking stock of my life. Somehow I’m at my most introspective in August, even when I wasn’t a student. Life seems to slow down, with bosses and friends on vacation and more free time to just think about what I really want to accomplish in the next year. I’ll let you know what I come up with, of course!
Around the web:
I’m excited for the Olympics to start (sitting on the couch watching elite athletes = priceless). See Pret A Voyager’s Olympic roundup here. While you’re at it, check out the Lil Bee’s post on the PIG Olympics (pigs in swim caps = so cute it hurts).
Finally, check out this amazing caravan vacation rental from wonderfully named rental company “Lovenests”, found via Liberty Post Gallery.
