I’m loving these funky artifacts from artist Jennifer Khoshin. More here.

How rad are these vintage handkerchiefs from Etsy seller How Now Design (who is also blogger Aesthetic Outburst)? Many more here.

Year of Flowers: 16

June 30, 2008

This might be one of my favorite bouquets to date! The freshia smells amazing and hydrangeas always make me think of summer. All year of flowers bouquets here.

Yesterday I scored 12 settings of this silver at Tepper Galleries (an auction house here in NYC). I’m so excited because when we got married we didn’t register for silver with the understanding that someday we would buy it at auction where you can get full sets fairly reasonably. I’ve had my eye out for a year and wouldn’t you know it, but I basically stumble over these when I least expect it. I like old things better than new things sometimes. These set was made by the New York firm Dominick and Huff in the 1920s-1940s.

Daily Dose of Green

June 29, 2008

This lovely shot from this month’s Gourmet is everything I want in my trip to Vermont next week.  Cool nights, lots of green and good food!

Two years after my wedding, I still subscribe to Martha Stewart Weddings. Why, you ask. I love to throw parties and it is one of the best resources for entertaining ideas I’ve found. The best advice I received while planning my wedding was that it was not the only party I was going to have and to leave some of the more expensive touches for more intimate parties in my future.

These beautiful arrangements from this month’s Martha Stewart Weddings are a perfect example of what I love about the magazine — these are simple and inexpensive but still very glamorous. I’d love to use this for the next dinner party I have. The “vases” are origami boxes with four inch plastic plant liners inside. Large box is $4 and the small is $2 (you’ll have to call to order).

Somehow I feel like this room was a compromise.  He said, you get the red Chippendale lauquer dinning set and I get the trout prints.  Via Tim Lee Photography.

Yes, these are they: Grown up dining room chairs. And they even have a 5th that could be purchased. 1st Dibs-Up-There-Price tag: $3500.  But no one said being grown up came cheaply.

Pirate Toast

June 27, 2008

Ahoy! I’ve got tons of energy this morning.  I spied this pirate toast stamp on Urban Outfitters — only $2.99.

The Lil Bee

This post about a bachelorette party in the Hamptons from The Lil Bee just made me howl with laughter. Why are bachelorette parties (and maybe the Hamptons too) always so seemingly doomed?

Two of our best friends are having babies in October and so that means there is quite a bit of baby-talk in the air (and Tim is going to be a godfather to one!!). So, my scouting eye is going nuts. This Japanese sewing tape would be perfect on a baby quilt or baby clothes.

Nightime window display

June 26, 2008

Tim and I had a yummy dinner at Niche (1593 2nd Ave) which is cousin to our favorite Bar Etats-Unis and then had a leisurely stroll home. On a side street we passed this lovely window display, beautifully lit, right? The store, L. Becker ( 217 E 83rd Street, 3rd & 2nd), is a florist, and I can’t wait to go back and check it out.

Taking it easy

June 26, 2008

I love this image on the top, via one of my favorite artists, e. soule.  I’ve always found that trees are really hard to photograph the way the eye sees them and think this photograph is pretty amazing. I’ve been taking it easy today, a little fatigued somehow.  The bottom image is from Please Sir, and is by Magdalena Bors.
