What to do with all that ephemera?

January 1, 2008

I just spied this fantastic assemblage on D*S… I love how ordered this collection is. I have a literately endless collection of found bits and pieces (as I’m sure many of you do as well) and I love this idea of “curating” our stashes. It is such a neat, organized, museum-like way to display the chaotic whirl of the universe around us. I maintain that we collect in an attempt to exert control — this seems like a lovely example, right?

PS, this effect comes from the excellent mighty magnets by Three by Three Seatle which you can purchase at Fred Flare. I use these at work (yes, my office has metal walls) and they are indeed mighty!

If you go to amazon.com, you can find the same magnets WAY cheaper. Just search for “magnets” and you will see…

Just in time! The frig has been cleared & cleaned from a year’s worth of pics, notes, and ben & jerry’s coupons. This is the perfect, classy replacement. All that blank white space on the freezer door was freaking us out. Thanks!

I have tons of bits and pieces from here and there. I keep it all in one place, well…sort of. I have some in the one place and then the more memorable pieces are sorted per place/event and in an 8 x 10 frames and hung on a small wall in my home because I like to see and talk about the things we have seen snd done. Sometimes friends were with us so then they feel like a part of our home.
